A Greenhouse Reset & Signs of Spring

There are certain weeks that feel like a gentle turning of the page—and this week has been one of them.
Here in Idaho, we’ve been soaking in the kind of weather that lifts your spirit the moment you step outside. Blue skies stretch wide overhead, the sun lingers just a little longer, and the air carries that unmistakable promise… spring is waking up.
And perhaps the sweetest sign of all—our apricot trees are in bloom.
Their delicate blossoms feel like a quiet celebration after a long winter—soft, hopeful, and full of anticipation for what’s to come.
From Storage Space to Growing Space
With the sunshine calling me outdoors, I turned my attention to a project that had been waiting patiently…
The greenhouse.
Somewhere along the way, it had slowly transformed into a catch-all storage area—one of those spaces where “just for now” turns into “how did all of this get here?”
There was a bicycle tucked in the corner…Agri-tourism cutouts leaning against the wall…Ropes, a saddle, a rabbit cage, chicken feeders…And scattered in between it all—my planting pots and garden supplies.
Honestly, it was a mess.
But I had a clear goal in mind:✨ Bring the greenhouse back to life as a place for growing.
Three Days of Transformation
What started as a simple clean-up turned into a full reset.
Over the course of three days, I sorted, cleared, swept, and organized every corner of that space. Piece by piece, the clutter gave way to purpose.
And then came the best part…
Getting my hands back in the soil.

I planted the seeds I’ve been eager to start—each one a small beginning, tucked into soil and full of promise.
At the same time, we moved our dahlia tubers out of the basement where they’ve been resting through the winter. It feels good to have them one step closer to the growing season ahead.
By the end of day three, the transformation was complete.
The greenhouse is no longer a storage space…It’s a place of life, intention, and new beginnings.
Looking Ahead: Southern Shipments
While the greenhouse is now humming with fresh energy, another important milestone is just around the corner.
We are preparing for our next round of orders—Southern shipments begin Monday, March 23rd.
Each order represents not just a package, but a piece of the farm being sent out into gardens across the country. It’s such a joy to think about these tubers taking root in warmer climates while we are just getting started here.
This Season of Preparation
There’s something deeply satisfying about this stage of the season.
It’s not the full bloom yet…Not the grand display of color…
But it is where everything begins.
The quiet work. The clearing out.The preparing of space.
And sometimes, that work looks a lot like cleaning a messy greenhouse and starting fresh.
A Gentle Reflection
Spring reminds us that new life often begins with making room.
Clearing out what no longer serves.Creating space for what is to come.Trusting that even the smallest seeds will grow in time.
And oh… how beautiful that unfolding will be.
Sincerely,
Debra Flaming
