There are moments when beauty carries a deeper weight—when every stitch, every petal, every thoughtful detail becomes a quiet expression of love. Today was one of those moments.
A gathering of local artisans and contributors came together at Quilt Crossing to view the Kaylee Jade Quilt, now on public display. This heartfelt piece will remain available for visitors to experience before it is formally presented to the Goncalves family at the Kaylee Jade remembrance event hosted at Franz Witte on May 9th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
A Community Stitched Together
The Kaylee Jade Quilt is more than fabric and thread—it is a collective embrace from a community that chose to honor a life through creativity, compassion, and shared purpose.
Kaylee Jade, one of the victims of the Moscow Idaho Murders, is remembered here in a way that reflects both her beauty and the impact she continues to have. Her legacy has even taken root in the world of flowers—a dahlia variety named in her honor, lovingly bred by Rosie Cooper-Vert of Rivers Dahlias.

The Hands Behind the Quilt
This project came to life through the vision and dedication of Patricia Looney of Parma, Idaho, who organized the effort and provided both the materials and the pattern for each quilt block.
Contributors from across the dahlia and quilting communities poured their hearts into this piece, including members of the American Dahlia Society:
Dianne Pavich
Patricia Looney
Diane Reitan
And representation from dahlia societies across the country:
Barb Miner- Dahlia Society of Ohio
Teena Kusche-Kitsap Dahlia Society
Kristin Custer & Vicki Holbrook-Southwest Idaho Dahlia Society
Erin Pew Stewart-Treasure Valley Dahlia Club
Nikki Miner-West Michigan Dahlia Society
Local artisans also added their touch:
Master quilter Jodi Fredrick from Nampa, Idaho beautifully designed and assembled the final quilt
Carmelle Sprull & Georgetta Hannah from Eagle, Idaho contributed quilt blocks.
And a special thank you to Laura Reardon, owner of Quilt Crossing, for opening her shop as a place where this meaningful work can be shared with the public.

An Invitation to Remember
The quilt is now on display for all who wish to pause, reflect, and witness what can happen when a community comes together in love.

If you find yourself nearby, consider stepping into Quilt Crossing. Stand before the quilt. Take in the colors, the textures, the intention behind every block. It is a quiet but powerful reminder that even in the face of tragedy, beauty can still be cultivated—together. Quilt Crossing is located at 10959 W. Fairview Ave. Boise, Idaho. Store hours are 10 am to 6 pm Mondays thru Saturdays and Sundays 12 pm-5 pm.
In the end, the Kaylee Jade Quilt stands as a tender reminder that love does not fade—it is carried forward in the hands and hearts of those who choose to remember. Each stitch tells a story of compassion, each block a reflection of unity, and together they form something far greater than fabric alone. As this quilt finds its way into the hands of the Goncalves family, it carries with it the prayers, care, and collective love of a community—an enduring tribute to a beautiful life that will never be forgotten.

If you are able, we invite you to join the community on May 9th at Franz Witte as we gather to honor Kaylee Jade’s life, her legacy, and the lasting impact she continues to have on so many. During this special event, the Kaylee Jade Quilt will be lovingly presented to the Goncalves family—a meaningful tribute stitched together with care, remembrance, and community.
Sincerely,
Debra Flaming
