The Excitement of Harvest Time
There's something especially rewarding about harvest time at Flaming Acres Dahlias. After months of planting, watering, weeding, and watching thousands of dahlias grow, we're finally discovering what's been happening beneath the soil!
We've just finished our first week of harvest, and we're delighted to report that our tuber yields are looking very good so far!
For those of you who have followed our journey throughout the growing season, you know that this year has certainly had its challenges. From unpredictable weather to the seemingly endless task of keeping the weeds under control, we've had our share of long days in the fields.
But now comes one of the most satisfying parts of growing dahlias—digging up those beautiful clumps of tubers and seeing the results of all that hard work.
And so far, we're smiling!
Every Clump Tells a Story
Harvest at Flaming Acres is much more than simply digging tubers out of the ground.
As each variety is harvested, we carefully sort, inspect, evaluate, and count the tubers. We're looking at both quality and quantity, making sure we know exactly what we have available for our customers.
Some varieties produce wonderfully generous clumps, while others are a little more modest. And every season brings a few surprises!
This careful process gives us an opportunity to update our existing inventory and, even more exciting, begin introducing varieties that have earned a place in our collection.
There are some beautiful dahlias that have really impressed us this year, and we're looking forward to sharing them with you.
Introducing Harvest Mondays!
We've decided to do something a little different this harvest season, and we think you're going to love it!
Beginning Monday, October 12, we're introducing Harvest Mondays at Flaming Acres Dahlias!
Rather than waiting until the entire harvest is finished before updating our online shop, we'll be sharing our discoveries as we work our way through the fields.
Each Monday during harvest, we'll be updating the shop with:
New Varieties! Exciting additions to our 2027 Collection, including some wonderful performers from this year's growing season.
Returning Favorites! Varieties that may have sold out or had limited availability before harvest.
Updated Inventory! Fresh tuber counts on varieties already in our online shop.
Some varieties may be available in generous quantities, while others will be offered in very limited numbers.
That's part of the excitement of Harvest Mondays—you never know what might appear next!
From Our Fields to Your Garden
We harvest Monday through Friday, carefully working our way through the different varieties growing here at Flaming Acres. Over the weekend, we'll take a look at what we've harvested, update our inventory, and prepare the new selections for Monday's announcement.
Our hope is that Harvest Mondays will become something you look forward to—a chance to discover a beautiful new dahlia, find a favorite that's back in stock, or simply follow along as another growing season comes to a close.
