Dahlia Keeper Guide

Remember This Season, Dream About the Next

As September begins to wind down, our dahlias are still putting on a beautiful show here at Flaming Acres. It’s such an interesting time in the garden. We’re still enjoying the blooms we waited so patiently for, but at the same time, we’re already noticing the things we want to remember for next year.

Which dahlias surprised us? Which ones bloomed and bloomed? Which colors looked especially beautiful together? Which varieties were late to the party? And what did this growing season teach us about watering, fertilizing, insects, weather, and caring for our plants?

Those are exactly the kinds of things that inspired us to create our newest resource.

The Dahlia Keeper Guide is a beautifully illustrated end-of-season journal designed to help you capture the things your garden taught you this year.

Dahlia season goes by so quickly, and it’s easy to think we’ll remember everything when spring planting rolls around again. But after a long winter, some of those little details can be surprisingly hard to recall!

The guide gives you a place to record your favorite varieties, standout performers, beautiful color combinations, memorable bouquets, and the dahlias you definitely want to grow again. There is also room for the practical side of gardening—how often you watered, your fertilizing routine, insect challenges, unusual weather, late bloomers, disappointments, and things you would like to do differently next season.

Most importantly, it gives you a chance to simply reflect.

What did your garden teach you this year?

Sometimes those lessons become just as valuable as the flowers themselves.

From This Year’s Garden to Next Year’s

One of our favorite parts of growing dahlias is that every season builds upon the one before it. We learn which varieties thrive in our gardens, which colors we love seeing together, which flowers we reach for again and again when making bouquets, and which dahlias earn a permanent place on our must-grow list.

The Dahlia Keeper Guide helps turn those observations into a plan for next year.

And September is also a wonderful time to begin choosing those next varieties.

Keep the Memories. Keep the Lessons. Keep Growing.

A garden is never exactly the same from one year to the next—and perhaps that is part of what makes growing dahlias so much fun.

Before this season slips away, take a little time to remember it. Record the flowers that delighted you, the challenges that taught you something, and the ideas already beginning to take shape for next spring.

We hope The Dahlia Keeper Guide becomes a special place to keep those memories—and helps you step into another growing season with even more confidence, anticipation, and joy.

Here’s to remembering what grew this year…and dreaming about what we’ll grow next. 🌸

Happy Gardening,

Debra Flaming
