Spend a Day Among Flowers: Visiting Franz Witte & Mason Creek Flower Farm, Upcoming Dahlia Show

ree

Yesterday was a reminder of how special it is to be part of a flower-loving community and enjoy a day among flowers. I had the joy of spending time with friends at Franz Witte's flower cutting garden in Nampa, where the Southwest Idaho Dahlia Society has partnered to bring even more beauty into our valley.

Dahlias in the Community

Our friend Pat Looney from the SW Idaho Dahlia Society donated over 100 dahlia tubers to Franz Witte for their cut flower garden in exchange for their sponsorship of the club. Their display garden is now overflowing with blooms—a stunning backdrop where flowers meet community. Even better? They planned to host a free concert in the garden, inviting people to gather, relax, and enjoy music surrounded by flowers. What a gift to the Treasure Valley!

Preparing for the Dahlia Show

Another reason for our visit was to share posters and flyers for the upcoming Dahlia Show at JUMP in Boise on Saturday September 13th. This show is always a highlight—an opportunity for growers, gardeners, and admirers alike to come together and celebrate the diversity, artistry, and sheer beauty of dahlias. If you’ve never been, mark your calendar. It’s an event not to be missed!

A Stop at Mason Creek Flower Farm

Our day also took us to Mason Creek Flower Farm (17178 Madison Rd, Nampa). This sweet self-serve farm is a floral paradise where you can wander through rows of blooms and cut your own bouquet. Sadly, this will be the final season for Mason Creek, so if you’ve ever wanted to visit, make sure you go this fall. It was such a peaceful and inspiring stop for us.

More Than a Nursery

Franz Witte itself is worth the trip if you haven’t been lately. Beyond the cut garden, they are a full nursery for landscaping needs, with a wide array of plants, trees, and shrubs. And tucked inside is a charming gift shop filled with treasures for garden lovers. It’s a place where inspiration spills out of every corner.

Reflection

Days like these remind me that flowers do more than bloom—they bring people together, inspire creativity, and build bridges in our community. Whether it’s a society sponsoring a garden, a farm sharing one last season, or a nursery welcoming people into beauty, we see the truth that beauty multiplies when it’s shared.

🌸 We hope to see you at the Dahlia Show at JUMP next weekend, September 13th. Bring a friend, soak in the colors, and let yourself be inspired.
