Are You Ready?

Our hearts are heavy today. On September 10th, the day before our nation pauses to remember the sorrow of September 11th, we lost a young patriot, Charlie Kirk, whose life was cut short in Utah by an assassin’s bullet. He was only in his early thirties, full of promise and courage. His death, followed immediately by a day of national mourning, presses the weight of life, death, and eternity onto all of us.
In one of his final posts, Charlie shared the words of Jesus from John 11:25–26: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” Just two months ago, in an interview, he said he wanted to be remembered for his courage in faith. He was a bold and amazing Christian man, and though his life on earth was short, his impact will be unstoppable.
This leads us to the question that matters most: Are you ready?
Salvation is the free gift of God, offered through Jesus Christ alone. No one else can give it to you. No one else can receive it on your behalf. It can only be accepted individually, by faith.
Once accepted, everything changes:
Fear of death no longer enslaves us, because we are filled with the Spirit of Life.
The conscience awakens, and the heart is transformed.
The fruit of the Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control — begins to grow.
Since God is love, the new creation we become is driven and motivated by love.
The Bible comes alive as the foundation of truth in our lives.

It is nothing less than a metamorphosis — the difference between a caterpillar and a butterfly. This is the born-again life, radiant with hope, beauty, and freedom.
So I must ask: If you were to die today, how sure are you that you would go to Heaven? For the authentic Christian, the answer is not “I hope so” but 100% certain — not because of anything we have done, but because of the finished work of Christ.
As we honor the lives lost on September 11th, and as we grieve the sudden passing of Charlie Kirk on September 10th, may we take to heart the urgency of this question. Life is fragile, but eternity is sure. The only question is whether we are ready.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” — John 1:5
🙏 A Prayer
Father God, I come to You in the Precious Name of your Son Jesus. Today we remember the lives lost on September 11th and we grieve the passing of Charlie Kirk. We thank You for his faith, his courage, and his witness. Comfort his family and all who mourn and let his life continue to inspire boldness in Christ. Draw us close to You, Lord, and remind us that salvation is Your free gift through Jesus Christ. Transform us by Your Spirit, awaken us to truth, and help us to live ready — in faith, in courage, and in love. Amen.
In times of tragedy, we are reminded that life is fragile but eternity is sure. Charlie Kirk’s faith and courage, along with the memories of those lost on September 11th, point us back to the question that matters most: Are we ready to meet Christ? May we live each day with the certainty of His salvation, the courage of His Spirit, and the hope of eternal life that no darkness can overcome.
With hope rooted in Christ and love for each of you,
Debra Flaming
