Today is the Day of Salvation ✝️

The Lord is Good
The Lord is Good

This morning at church was unlike anything I’ve seen before. Dion and I attended the 8 a.m. service, and by the time we left, the parking lot was overflowing. Friends who came to the service following ours told us that cars were parked in every possible space—even the islands—as we left cars were pouring in to an already filled parking lot. It was a vivid picture of hunger for truth in a world that feels like it is spinning out of control, where evil is attempting to destroy all that is good.

The message we heard this morning carried an unmistakable urgency: Get ready—the soon coming return of King Jesus is at hand. He is coming again, not as the humble servant who walked the earth two thousand years ago, but as the victorious King, returning to gather His bride—the Church—and to set all things right. This truth demands a personal response, because in the end there are only two kinds of people in the world: those who are saved and those who are unsaved. There is no middle ground, no neutral place to stand. Scripture draws the line clearly and without compromise:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”—Romans 6:23

Every soul will face one of these two realities—eternal separation from God because of sin, or eternal life with Him through His Son.

The Origin of Sin and the Enemy of Our Souls

To understand why this choice is so urgent, we must go back to the beginning. Sin did not originate with mankind but with a created being—Lucifer, the anointed cherub. Once clothed in beauty and entrusted with leading worship before the throne of God, pride was found in his heart. Instead of exalting his Creator, he sought to exalt himself above God. His rebellion cost him his place in Heaven and led a third of the angels to fall with him (Isaiah 14:12–15; Ezekiel 28:12–17; Revelation 12:7–9).

From that moment, Satan’s hatred for God turned into fury against God’s most cherished creation: mankind. Though humanity was formed from the dust of the ground, God crowned us with His image and likeness (Genesis 1:27). This divine love for such fragile beings stirred Lucifer’s jealousy and rage. He could not defeat God directly, so he struck at the heart of God by seeking to destroy those whom God loves.

In the Garden of Eden, he whispered lies to Eve, twisting God’s words, making rebellion look reasonable and even desirable. Adam joined her in disobedience, and through their sin, death entered the world. That single act severed the perfect relationship between Creator and creation, and every generation since has felt the weight of that brokenness (Genesis 3:1–6; Romans 5:12).

The Same Deception Today

Satan’s tactics haven’t changed. He still blinds people with lies, tempts with pride, distracts with temporary pleasures, or lulls souls into a deadly complacency. He whispers, “You have time. Don’t decide today. Stay comfortable. Just keep living your life.” But tomorrow is never guaranteed. Scripture reminds us:

“You do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.”—James 4:14

Indecision is not neutral. To delay is to deny. Jesus Himself declared:

“Whoever is not with Me is against Me, and whoever does not gather with Me scatters.”—Matthew 12:30

There is no fence to sit on—because Satan owns the fence.

God’s Gift of Salvation

Yet even in the darkest moment of man’s rebellion, God’s plan of redemption was already in motion. From the beginning, He promised a Savior who would crush the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15). In love, He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to live the life we could not live and die the death we deserved. On the cross, Jesus bore the full weight of our sin, paying the immeasurable debt we owed. And when He rose again, He broke the chains of death forever (John 3:16; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 Corinthians 15:55–57).

Now, every person faces a choice. We can remain in rebellion and pay for our own sins for eternity, or we can humbly repent and accept the free gift of salvation, bought by the blood of Christ.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”—Ephesians 2:8–9

The Greatest Decision You Will Ever Make

Friend, this is not just another religious choice among many. This is the decision that determines your eternal destiny. From the moment you were born, you inherited a sinful nature. You may try to live a good life, be kind, give generously, and even attend church faithfully — but none of those things can erase the stain of sin. The Bible is clear:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”—Romans 3:23

Left on our own, we stand guilty before a holy and righteous God. Yet the good news is that God has not left us to ourselves. Out of His great love, He provided the only way for us to be forgiven and restored. That way is Jesus Christ.

When Jesus hung on the cross, He cried out, “It is finished” (John 19:30). The debt of sin was paid in full. Nothing more can be added to it, and nothing more is needed. All that remains is for each of us to personally accept the gift He offers.

But here is the sobering reality: to delay is to deny. Satan will whisper, “There’s always tomorrow. You’re not ready yet. You can put this off.” But Scripture warns us otherwise:

“Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”—2 Corinthians 6:2

Tomorrow is not promised. Eternity is too long to be wrong. You must decide while breath still fills your lungs. Will you continue down the broad road that leads to destruction, or will you enter by the narrow gate that leads to life (Matthew 7:13–14)?

A Prayer of Surrender

If your heart is stirring right now, do not ignore it. That is the Spirit of God drawing you to Himself. You can surrender your life to Jesus Christ this very moment by praying a simple prayer of faith. It is not the exact words that matter but the sincerity of your heart before God.

Pray with me:

“Heavenly Father, I come before You recognizing that I am a sinner in need of Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, that He died on the cross to pay for my sins, and that He rose again to give me eternal life. I confess my sins and repent of my ways, and I choose today to follow Jesus as my Savior and Lord. Please write my name in the Lamb’s Book of Life and fill me with Your Holy Spirit so I may walk in Your truth all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer sincerely, the Bible promises that you have passed from death to life (John 5:24). You are now a child of God, and nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:38–39). Angels in Heaven are rejoicing over you right now (Luke 15:10)!

The Urgency of Today

As I reflect on Sunday’s service, I cannot escape the urgency that filled the room. The sanctuary was overflowing with people hungry for truth, a visible reminder that the time is short, and the harvest is ripe. The return of King Jesus is not some distant event to push aside for another day—it is soon. He is coming for His bride, and every soul must be ready. My prayer is that you will not delay. The gift of eternal life is before you. Choose Jesus today and let your name be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life forever. Today is the Day of Salvation!

With urgency and love in Christ,

Debra Flaming
