Calling All Dahlia Detectives!
Guess what, friends? The dahlias have done their dazzling work in the fields, and now it’s our turn to dig in. Quite literally.
Here at Flaming Acres, we’re rolling up our sleeves for one of the most exciting times of the year—tuber harvest! This is when we carefully dig up those magical clumps hiding beneath the soil and prepare them for next spring’s blooms. But here’s the twist: we can’t (and don’t want to) do it alone. We’re inviting YOU to join in the fun!
What’s the Big Deal About Tubers?
Think of a tuber as a dahlia’s secret treasure chest. Inside those knobby little roots are next year’s fireworks of color. But here’s the catch—they only bloom again if you can spot the “eyes.” (Yes, dahlias have eyes! 👀)
Don’t worry, we’ll teach you this farm-famous skill. By the end of the day, you’ll feel like a bona fide dahlia whisperer.
How It Works
You sign up for a shift (morning or afternoon—we’ve got you covered).
We provide the tools, the tubers, and the training.
You get your hands dirty, your heart happy, and your brain buzzing with new know-how.
AND… for every hour you help, you’ll go home with a tuber as a thank-you gift. (That’s farm math at its finest.)
Why Volunteer?
Because where else do you get:
· Fresh air + tuber therapy.
· The thrill of spotting dahlia “eyes” like a true flower detective.
· A farm-fresh thank-you tuber you can grow in your own garden.
· Laughter, friendship, and the joy of being part of the harvest crew.
It’s basically part garden party, part treasure hunt, part bloom-boosting bootcamp.
Ready to Get Hands-On with Tubers?
We’ll be hosting volunteers October 13–18 and 20–25. Two shifts each day, plenty of tubers to go around, and lots of learning in between.
At Flaming Acres, we believe the joy of gardening is even richer when it’s shared. Volunteering during dahlia tuber harvest isn’t just about dividing clumps—it’s about learning to spot those tiny “eyes,” laughing with new friends, and carrying home a little piece of beauty to plant in your own garden. We can’t wait to welcome you to the farm this October and make memories that will keep blooming long after the season ends.
✨ Sign up, bring your sense of adventure, and get ready for the best kind of farm day. ✨
Sincerely,
Debra Flaming
