This morning I woke up to the gentle patter of rain against the windows. The cooler air and soft gray skies reminded me that autumn is truly here. There’s something about rainy mornings that slows everything down—encouraging us to breathe deeper, wrap our hands around a warm cup of coffee, and let the day unfold at a gentler pace...so here are my Monday musings...

Of course, while the weather begs for cozy, the dahlias don’t wait—and neither do the photos! I’ve been out in the fields, snapping fresh pictures and capturing videos of these late-season blooms. Now comes the tedious part: naming and organizing every single file one by one. It’s not glamorous, but it’s the behind-the-scenes work that makes sharing these beauties with you possible. Each click and label feels like setting a gemstone in place, preparing it for display.
And as September draws to a close, another bit of excitement is building—October is just around the corner, and with it, we’ll be announcing the winner of our giveaway! I’ve been brainstorming a fun way to draw the winning name. Maybe something whimsical, like pulling it from a bucket of blooms or letting the chickens peck out the lucky slip. (Can you imagine? It might be chaos, but it sure would be memorable!)
Rainy days and cooler mornings remind me that seasons change, but beauty lingers. Each photo I process, each name I click and type, is another chance to capture a fleeting moment and preserve it. Soon, I’ll be ready to share them with you—and celebrate our October winner in a way that makes us all smile.
As the rain refreshes the fields and the dahlias continue to dazzle, I’m reminded that beauty often blooms in the quiet, steady work behind the scenes. Whether it’s labeling photo files, preparing a giveaway drawing, or simply pausing to notice the season shifting, there is joy to be found in both the process and the promise. Thank you for sharing these moments with us at Flaming Acres—your presence here makes the journey all the more meaningful.
With gratitude for the season,
Debra Flaming
