Today, September 13th, is a special day for flower lovers in Boise. My 11 dahlia photographs are on display at the Southwest Idaho Dahlia Show at JUMP, alongside many other breathtaking entries. The Boise Camera Club is also sharing their incredible work, so there is no shortage of beauty for visitors to enjoy.
All of my photos were taken with my phone—not with a high-tech camera—so while I don’t expect big prizes, it feels wonderful to join a community of people who love flowers as much as I do.

Yesterday, Ashley worked her magic creating some of the most stunning bouquets. I spent the morning cutting buckets of companion flowers from the garden, and she carefully selected just the right dahlias from our fields. Each bouquet needed at least five dahlias, and she went above and beyond, creating four seasonal bouquets—Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall—as well as market bouquets that will be available for purchase at the show. Her eye for color palettes and her creativity never cease to amaze me, and I love seeing Flaming Acres Dahlias represented in such a beautiful way.
If you are in the Boise area, we would love for you to join us today! The show is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at JUMP in downtown Boise. Come enjoy the dazzling variety of dahlias, support local growers and photographers, and maybe even take home a bouquet.
I’ll be posting highlights from today’s event in Sunday’s blog—so stay tuned!
With petals of joy,
Debra Flaming
